If you operate any motorized recreational watercraft in Canada you are required to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card *, commonly known as the PCOC.

Our National Organization The Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons offers the PCOC online.  Check out cps-ecp.ca/pcoc

The Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons PCOC is the only Canadian PCOC that is NASBLA approved and valid in the United States of America.

The Calgary Power and Sail Squadron offers courses for beginner and experienced boaters.  To find out what courses are currently scheduled go to cps-ecp.ca/course-catalog , click 'City' and select 'Calgary'.

Our boating courses follow the National Canadian Power and Sail squadrons curriculum and course materials.

The Marine Radio Operators Certificate ( ROCm) is needed to legally operate a VHF marine radio.

Upon successful completion of the course The Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons will issue the Industry Canada Marine Radio operator's card.

In Calgary, navigation courses are offered in class by our instructors in the fall and winter sessions:

Here is our current schedule:  Venue: The Military Museums, Calgary

Boating 4 - Near shore Marine Navigation Level 1             Fall session October to December

Boating 5 - Near shore Marine Navigation Level 2             Winter session January to March

Boating 2 - Beyond the PCOC ( Beyond Boating Basics)    Winter session February

Boating 3 - Introduction to Marine Navigation                    Winter session March

Maritime radio - Preparation for the 'Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with Digital Selective Calling Endorsement' exam.  This VHF Marine radio course will be offered as a one day course in the Winter session in Calgary at the Military Museums.  It is also possible to challenge the Maritime radio examination after self-study of the course material. This is offered throughout the year at a time convenient to the student and instructor.
